NILGIRI TGFOP1 | Parkside Estate | India | Black Tea
Parkside Tea Estate, which lies in the heart of the Nilgiri Mountains of South India, produces flavoury high elevation teas.
The Nilgiri tea region doesn't get the credit it deserves, often overshadowed by other black tea regions such as Assam & Darjeeling.
This region has a unique subtropical climate & high altitude that produces tea known for being very aromatic & medium-bodied. It has a smooth, mellow taste & subtle, natural sweetness (almost fruitiness) to the cup.
Nilgiri also makes some of the best iced teas in the world- they never turn bitter, they don’t cloud, & that natural sweet note comes out, especially when cold-brewed.
*TGFOP1 stands for “Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe, Grade 1”. Read more about tea grading HERE.
BREWING GUIDE:
Duration: 4-5 minutes
Temperature: 100C° (full boil)
Amount: 2.5g or 1 tsp per cup
BREWING RECOMMENDATIONS:
- If you like your tea brewed stronger or weaker, adjust the amount of tea leaves than what the brewing directions call for. Brewing your tea too long can extract an undesirable bitterness from the leaves
- Loose leaf tea can typically be steeped multiple times. However, each steeping will yield a slightly lighter flavor than the previous.
- To brew in a large teapot, increase the amount of loose leaf tea to match the total cups of water you’re using.
