LOVER'S LEAP | Ceylon | BOP Black Tea | Wholesale
*BOP stands for "Broken Orange Pekoe". Orange Pekoe does not indicate a flavor, instead this is used to indicate the grade of the tea.
Pedro Estate, which produces the world famous Lover's Leap tea, is located high above the small town of Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon). It is amongst the highest areas to grow teas.
Its constantly changing weather system makes for lush, thriving tea. As such, it will undoubtedly captivate those who choose it. The tea has a delicately astringent & medium-strength flavour, with light floral, citrus notes.
Local lore says that the high & rocky cliff on the estate is where two lovers, a prince & a commoner leapt to their deaths when they were forbidden to marry, hence the name Lover's Leap. The romantic name belies an unhappy story, but it is not a reflection on an excellent tea.
BREWING GUIDE:
Duration: 3-4 minutes
Temperature: 100C° (full boil)
Amount: 2.5gm or 1 teaspoon per cup
BREWING RECOMMENDATIONS:
- If you like your tea brewed stronger or weaker, adjust the amount of tea leaves than what the brewing directions call for. Brewing your tea too long can extract an undesirable bitterness from the leaves
- Loose leaf tea can typically be steeped multiple times. However, each steeping will yield a slightly lighter flavor than the previous.
- To brew in a large teapot, increase the amount of loose leaf tea to match the total cups of water you’re using.
